Contra: • Patients on prescription medicines, including warfarin, should consult their doctor before using this product
• Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Do not use this product without medical advice.
• Contra-indicated in excited states eg hyperactive individuals, manic conditions.
• Because Rhodiola rosea has an activating antidepressant effect, it should not be used in individuals with bipolar disorder.
• Avoid concurrent use with stimulants including caffeine & amphetamines, or antidepressants (MAO inhibitor drugs).
• Take early in the day because it may interfere with sleep or cause vivid dreams (not nightmares) during the first few weeks.
• Some individuals, particularly those who tend to be anxious, may feel overly activated, jittery or agitated. If this occurs, then a smaller dose with very gradual increases may be needed.
