Glucosamine 1500 Complex with Chondroitin - one a day joint care formula

Healthy cartilage is the key to healthy joints

Cartilage is made up of cells surrounded by connective tissue that includes protein and carbohydrate complexes (proteoglycans), rope-like protein structures (collagen) and water. Proteoglycans provide a smooth, glassy texture and collagen provides structural strength.

Strong proteoglycans are the key to cartilage health

Proteoglycans are made from glucose and amino acids and have a structure similar to a bottlebrush. The ‘bristles' are made up of chondroitin sulfate and keratan sulfate and their job is to attract and trap water.

Glucosamine helps make proteoglycans

Glucosamine is made from glucose and the amino acid glutamine, a natural component of protein. It is a key building block of proteoglycans and supports joint maintenance and repair. In supplement form, it is usually derived from chitin found in the shells of crustaceans, such as crabs, prawns and lobsters.

Chondroitin is an integral part of proteoglycans

Chondroitin is derived from shark cartilage and makes up part of proteoglycans in cartilage.

Supporting nutrients for joints

Proline

Proline is a naturally-occurring amino acid that can be made in the body from another amino acid, glutamic acid. It is a key component of collagen in cartilage.

Ginger

Ginger is a traditional herb used in Ayurvedic (Indian) therapy to support circulation.

Fish Oil

Fish oil provides essential omega 3 fats that are important for supporting joint mobility. MICROgenics Natural Fish Oil comes from a variety of wild, deep-sea fish and is in gelatin-free capsules made from plant products.

All MICROgenics fish oil is produced using industry-leading methods to preserve its integrity. Bulk fish oil is kept under nitrogen to preserve freshness and is tested for quality before and after encapsulation. It must comply with strict government food standards for mercury and other contaminants.
