Dosage: One Teaspoon to one Tablespoon dissolved in a cup of luke warm water or milk as desired.

Molasses is a heavy black syrup produced as a by-product of sugar manufacture. As the sugar cane plant is crushed, ground, heated and cooled to form the white crystals of refined sugar, a black syrupy liquid is left behind. The more sugar that is extracted, the thicker and blacker the molasses becomes. Blackstrap Molasses the thickest and darkest variety is exceptionally rich and nutritional. These nutrients are also exceptionally well absorbed.
One tablespoon of molasses contains 2.5 milligrams of iron and over 100 milligrams of calcium. It is also rich in copper, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and the B vitamins (B2, B3, B6, Folate, and Pantothenic acid). Blackstrap Molasses is an excellent tonic and promoter of bowel regularity. It can be safely used as an iron supplement during pregnancy.
Naturally sweet, Molasses can be substituted 1:1 for sugar, honey, treacle or golden syrup in many recipes. It can be mixed with hot water and milk and taken as a drink or eaten directly from the spoon. It has a natural sweet bitter taste. Generally it is considered a low allergy food.
