Tickets to the gun show: episode four

Oh hey! Long-time no see!

You might have noticed that I didn’t post a blog last week. This is due to the office being closed over the chocolately goodness that is Easter break. I may or may not have indulged a tiny bit. Just a little bit I swear...
Who am I kidding – I indulged a whole lot.

I totally fell off the bandwagon, you guys! For starters, I had a week away from the gym because I was quite ill and had been instructed by my doctor to rest up. I’ll have you know that I took these instructions very seriously – to the point where I made a fort in my lounge and lay inside it watching movies until my eyes started to feel fuzzy.

Unfortunately with the week away from the gym, came the week (kind of) away from the meal plan. I’ve found that while I’m at work it’s super easy to stick to the meal plan. I just bring the food I need for the day and that’s that. I can’t eat anything ‘naughty’ if I didn’t bring it with me in the first place, right? The part I’m finding most difficult is socialising. My group of friends and I have an unspoken rule; if, as a group, we decide to get together then it’s almost mandatory that we each bring a snack to share. It happened one of the first times we all got together and it just kind of carried on.

Just to straighten things up, I’m not a ravenous, unstoppable pygmy shew. (Fun fact: they’re one of the hungriest animals in the world, eating more than three times their body weight a day!) I just somehow manage to find myself constantly in situations that revolve around food and drink, and if I’m being totally honest I struggle to find the will power to say no if it’s offered to me. I’m working on it, though, and if any of you have any tips or tricks, please feel free to share them at the bottom of this post in the comments section!

I haven't given up just yet, though! I've still got a little faith in myself and I've just gotta keep jumping back on the bandwagon every time I fall off. And, to be fair, the way I felt after consuming my body weight in chocolate bunnies definitely gave me all the encouragement I need to get back to it!

Anyway – I thought I’d talk to you a little bit about the products I’ve been using – all of which I will list below if you’re interested in trying them for yourself.

In the mornings, I have a shake for pre breakfast. It contains one scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1tsp maca powder, 1tsp kale powder, 1tsp cacao powder, all mixed into coconut water. It’s delicious and I look forward to it every morning.

For breakfast, I mix 5 tsp protein powder and 10g of goji berries into oats made with water. Every day with breakfast, I make sure to take an iron supplement. I’m a vegetarian, so it’s hard to get a lot of iron into my diet without actually eating meat. I find that it’s doing the job and I don’t feel nearly as lethargic as I did before I tried them!

If there is anything in particular you’d like to hear about, please let me know and I’ll happily tell you all about it!

Until next time,
