Nourish Your Kids

The school year is always busy for children, so good nutrition is essential to help them fuel their day-to-day activities.

Children require a good supply of protein, calcium, fibre, carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables to ensure they are getting the nutrients required for growth, development, energy, brain function and immunity. However, it can be difficult getting your child to eat, let alone the right foods!

Here are five key tips to ensure your child is getting the nutrition they need:

1 START WITH BREAKFAST

You have heard before that breakfast is the most important part of the day
and this is true for a child’s developing brain. Studies have shown that
children will function better and have a better attention span after having
breakfast. Smoothies can be a great option to provide an additional boost
of fruits and vegetables.

2 INVOLVE YOUR KIDS IN LUNCH MAKING

Involving children in meal routines and food choices can encourage
them to eat a variety of foods and means they are more likely to eat
what is packed. Just make sure to give them a range of healthy options.

3 ADD SOME COLOUR

Children like food that looks interesting, so add some colour to
their lunchbox with berries, carrots, cucumber and a banana.

4 DON’T FORGET HYDRATION

A drink bottle of water is a must to make sure busy, active kids stay
hydrated. For an occasional treat, dilute a little fruit juice in some
sparkling water, or flavour their water with lemon, berries, cucumber or mint.

5 ADD EXTRA NUTRIENTS

Give picky eaters some extra support with Thompson’s Junior Immunofort.
It contains a unique blend of vitamins, minerals and nutrients
to support children’s immune systems and is helpful for picky eaters.
