Our journey towards sustainability

At Health 2000, our ethos of ‘where caring comes naturally’ is at the core of everything we do. For us, caring does not end with the health of Kiwis – it includes the health of our planet.

Since 2014, we have taken steps to lessen our environmental impact, being early adopters of degradable shopping bags, which were the most environmentally-friendly option at that time. We continuously explore opportunities to minimise our environmental impact and are proud to announce our latest environmental initiative, 100 percent compostable bags across all our stores and online.

The compostable bags can be placed in your home compost bin or returned to your nearest Health 2000 store for the team to compost. They are now available in all Health 2000 stores, replacing our previous degradable bags. We selected this type of bag over paper bags as they do not include toxic glues. We understand this is just another step on our journey to being as environmentally friendly as possible.

In addition, the printers of our in-store posters are certified by the environmental management system, IS0 14004. Our monthly magazine paper comes from certified sources.

Online orders are packaged with compostable courier bags and tape. All cardboard boxes are fully recyclable and sourced from sustainable forests. The items inside are protected with pop starch, a New Zealand-made, sustainable alternative to bubble wrap. 100 percent compostable, biodegradable and nontoxic in marine environments, pop starch is disposable in composts or gardens, or can be added to hot water and rinsed down the drain.

Alongside this, we encourage our suppliers and partners to do their part to lower their environmental impact wherever possible to help us to reduce our overall carbon footprint.
