Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra): The most outstanding feature of this plant is its ability to improve resistance to physical, mental and emotional stress.  It contains glycyrrhizin which has a similar structure to the hormones produced by the adrenal glands (including cortisol).  Licorice helps to mitigate adrenal exhaustion which can interfere with normal sleep.

Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis): Valerian is well-known for its calming qualities and its ability to relax the central nervous system.  It has been used to support sleep for hundreds of years, especially for those having difficulty falling asleep.  Valerian does not produce a morning hangover effect and is non-addictive.
