Joint Discomfort

There are effective alternatives providing excellent relief from joint discomfort, without the risks and side effects associated with conventional medicines.

Exercise: People with chronic pain tend to dismiss this because … it may hurt!  However, studies show that maintaining physical activity through sensible exercises improves pain scores, promotes healing, speeds recovery and boosts mental wellbeing.

Meditation: Another free activity shown to reduce the brain’s focus on pain and help re-wire the mental circuitry away from pain and stress, towards  balance and mental peace.  Meditation requires persistence and consistence, its rewards are priceless.

Acupuncture: This technique hasn’t survived a thousand years because it sounds good. Acupuncture – in the right hands – produces fantastic pain relief and cannot be dismissed as a viable treatment option. It usually requires several treatments before it is appreciated, therefore some patience is required.

Natural formulas: Natural plant-based ingredients have been around for millennia, but are under-utilised because pharmaceutical medicines have overshadowed and pushed them aside. However, natural formulas are making a comeback – based on sound research and improved technologies, here’s why natural ingredients may be a great choice: 1) similar to the pharmaceutical industry – the natural formulas are now tested in clinical settings to show that they actually work as they are designed to. 2) Science and technology is now able to isolate the ‘active’ components from the natural based compounds and therefore increase their potency. 3) Natural based formulas tend to have far fewer, if any bad side effects and can be used for prolonged periods.

Natural remedies being used in medical treatments include:

  • Omega 3 oils (fish, krill or plant-based oil)
  • Capsaicin (from chili peppers)
  • Curcumin (from the turmeric curry spice)
  • Glucosamine
  • Chondroitin
