Lighthouse Lypo-Caps Vitamin C is made of liposomes that are created with technology to encapsulate the vitamin C molecule within a liposome made from soy lecithin. A liposome is a small vesicle made of a phospholipid bilayer similar to the structure of the cells within your body. This form of vitamin C is absorbed within the small intestine into the lymphatic system, bypassing the normal route and therefore enhancing the delivery into the body and cells. When this encapsulated vitamin C is in the body, it is more likely to be utilised effectively, rather than being quickly excreted by the kidneys into the urine and passed from the body.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and immune booster. There are studies that show vitamin C is effective in supporting the reduction of the severity and duration of ills and chills. Vitamin C is not made within the body and it is water soluble so the body does not regularly store it; therefore, we all need it on a daily basis from our diet and supplementation.

The requirement for vitamin C in smokers is increased as smoking rapidly decreases vitamin C in the body. Vitamin C is vital for stress reduction as it plays an important role in adrenal function. Vitamin C is utilised by the adrenal glands in the production of all of the adrenal hormones (mostly cortisol). When you are under stress, your vitamin C is rapidly used up to produce cortisol and other stress-related hormones. Vitamin C helps to strengthen the capillary and cell walls and is integral for collagen formation. This makes it beneficial in preventing bruising, promoting healing and helping to improve gum health. Vitamin C is also a natural anti-histamine. High doses of vitamin C can block the effect of inflammatory mediators produced by the body in response to pollen.

Liposomal (Lypo) technology enhances vitamin C absorption by encapsulating the vitamin in tiny lipid (fat) bubbles called liposomes. Here’s why that’s beneficial:

Superior Absorption & Bioavailability

Traditional vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is water-soluble, meaning it has limited absorption in the digestive system. Liposomal vitamin C, however, bypasses normal absorption barriers and is absorbed directly into the bloodstream and cells, increasing bioavailability significantly.

Gentle on the Stomach

High doses of regular vitamin C can cause gastrointestinal discomfort (bloating, cramping, or diarrhea). Liposomal delivery reduces this risk because the vitamin is encapsulated, protecting the stomach lining.

Enhanced Cellular Uptake

Liposomes mimic cell membranes, making it easier for vitamin C to enter cells and provide antioxidant and immune-supporting benefits where they’re needed most.

Longer Circulation in the Body

Regular vitamin C is quickly excreted in urine, while liposomal vitamin C stays in the bloodstream longer, allowing for prolonged benefits.

Supports Immune & Collagen Production More Effectively

With better absorption, liposomal vitamin C provides stronger immune defense, faster recovery from illness, and enhanced collagen production for skin, joints, and connective tissue health.

In short, liposomal technology ensures you get more vitamin C into your system, making it a more efficient and effective way to boost immunity, energy, and skin health.

FAQs About Vitamin C

  • What is Vitamin C and why is it important?

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a powerful antioxidant that supports immune function, collagen production, iron absorption, and protection against oxidative stress. It’s essential for overall health but cannot be produced by the body — it must be obtained through diet or supplements.
  • How much Vitamin C should I take daily?

The recommended daily intake varies by diet, age and lifestyle, but adults typically need between 45–90mg daily. For immune support, higher doses (e.g. 500–1000mg) are common — always follow product labels or consult your healthcare provider.
  • What’s the difference between regular and liposomal Vitamin C?

Liposomal Vitamin C uses a fat-soluble delivery system to enhance absorption and reduce digestive upset, making it ideal for those needing higher doses or with sensitive stomachs.
  • Can Vitamin C help prevent or shorten chills?

While Vitamin C may not prevent winters ills and chills entirely, studies show it can reduce the duration and severity of symptoms — especially in physically active people or during periods of stress.
  • Is Vitamin C safe to take every day?

Yes — it’s water-soluble, so excess is usually excreted. However, extremely high doses (2,000mg or more) may cause digestive upset in some people. Always follow dosage recommendations.
