The Herb Farm believes that skincare should be designed to suit your individual skins needs, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach

The Herb Farm skincare ranges are created to offer a solution for different skin types, with four different ranges available.

Oily & combination skin

Some common signs that you have this skin type are:

  • Your face is shiny only an hour or two after cleansing, and usually appears oily by midday
  • The oilier areas of your face may have blackheads, white bumps, or acne
  • Your pores are visibly enlarged, especially on your nose, chin, and forehead.

Combination skin is where you have ‘oily’ areas – commonly your nose, chin and forehead – and the rest of your skin is usually normal or can be dry.

The key to managing oily skin is to get the right balance. A mistake often made by those with oily skin is to look for products which are ‘oil free’ or alcohol based toners which promise to leave the skin shine-free. These can in fact dry your skin by stripping or unbalancing the natural oils which the skin then overcompensates for by producing more oil.
The Herb Farm uses thyme as a key ingredient in their oily and combination skincare range to help balance and even your skin, while healing any blemishes or acne.

Normal (including sensitive) skin

Some common signs that you have this skin type are:

  • Your skin is generally in good condition, supple and smooth
  • Your pores are generally not overly visible
  • Areas which are easily inflamed or irritated and may appear red and dry - this is a sign of sensitive skin.

Even if your skin is ‘normal’ and generally in good condition, it is important to monitor it throughout the seasons and life changes and make changes to your skincare routine if you see dryness or oiliness. Sensitive skin can be harder to manage and it is important to always patch test skincare before applying, ensure you choose skincare which has low-allergen ingredients and only gentle natural scents and colours.

The Herb Farm uses rose as a key ingredient in their normal (including sensitive) skincare range to help gently nourish and protect your skin.

Dry skin

Some common signs that you have this skin type are:

  • Your skin is visibly dry, flaky and dehydrated
  • Your skin may feel itchy, tight and irritated
  • May have a blotchy or red appearance

The key to restoring dry skin is hydration. It is important to use skincare which will provide lasting hydration and has the ability to deeply penetrate the skin layers to nourish from deep within. To combat dry skin, ensure you are drinking plenty of water (two litres a day) and supplement with a high-quality flax oil.

The Herb Farm uses rosehip as a key ingredient in their dry skincare range to effectively hydrate and replenish dry skin.

Ageing skin

Some common signs that you have this skin type are:

  • You have pronounced wrinkles and fine lines
  • Your skin’s texture is losing elasticity and suppleness
  • Pigmentation, age spots and uneven skin tone

Ageing is a normal part of our life cycle and we believe that it isn’t about fighting wrinkles but about restoring and enhancing your skins natural radiance and glow. There are many amazing natural ingredients which are renowned for their abilities to nurture the skin and speed cell regeneration, helping you to feel and look confident and glowing.

The Herb Farm uses blackcurrant oil as a key ingredient in their lasting beauty skincare range to help plump, hydrate and support your skin’s renewal.

All our 100 percent natural products are handcrafted at The Herb Farm in the Manawatu, so you can be assured of the integrity and effectiveness of each and every product.
