Healthy Halloween treats

Spooky spider eggs

Ingredients

8 hard-boiled large eggs
1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp thinly sliced spring onions
1 tsp mustard
Salt and pepper
8 olives

Method

STEP 1: Cut each egg in half lengthwise. Gently scoop out the yolks and place them in a bowl. Mash yolks with a fork, and then stir in mayonnaise, spring onions, mustard, salt and pepper until well blended.

STEP 2: Spoon or pipe about 1 tablespoon yolk mixture into the hollow of each egg-white half.

STEP 3: Cut pitted black olives in half lengthwise and place one half on top of an egg for the spider body. Cut the other half crosswise into thin slices to form eight creepy legs.

STEP 4: Refrigerate until serving time.

 

 

ghostly Strawberries

Ingredients

Fresh strawberries
Vanilla Greek-style yogurt
Dark chocolate drops

Method

STEP 1: Cover a tray in baking paper.

STEP 2: Holding each strawberry by its leaves, dip it in the yogurt until mostly submerged. Place all strawberries on the tray once dipped, and freeze for one hour. 

STEP 3:  Remove strawberries from freezer and coat with a second layer of yoghurt. This time, leave a trail of yoghurt coming from the strawberry. Place chocolate drops to form eyes and a mouth. 

STEP 4: Freeze strawberries for another hour or until ready to serve.

 

Halloween Pumpkins
Ingredients

Celery sticks
Small oranges or mandarins

Method

STEP 1: Peel oranges or mandarins and insert a short piece of celery into the top so that it looks like a pumpkin stalk. 

 

Monster bites
Ingredients

2 green apples, quartered
Peanut butter (100% peanuts)
Macadamia nuts

Method

STEP 1: Cut the middles out of the outside of each apple quarter to create a mouth. 

STEP 2: Coat the inside of the gaps with peanut butter.

STEP 3: Place yoghurt-coated raisins in the mouth to look like teeth.
