Reasons as to why you should change your workout routine.
#1 You are no longer seeing results.
#2 Your goals change. i.e. you wanted to run a certain distance and now that you can you want to step it up and maybe aim for speed instead of distance.
#3 Your bored.
#4 Something out of your control happens. i.e. you get injured and can't do the same exercises.
Belonging to a gym can be a great help if you want a new program. As most gyms offer new workouts every 1-2 months. I go to Contours. But if you prefer to go it alone, the internet is a world full of inspiration! Subscribe to fitness e-newletters (my favourites are Shape, Refinery 29 and Fitness Magazine). They are always coming out with great new workouts to try not to mention they contain handy diet tips.
If you don't want to do the same routine every day (if your working out 5 times a week). Then alternate with focusing on upper body on day and lower body the next. (It's great to give your muscles a rest on the off day too).
So here's my new routine, thanks to the wonderful Nicole at Contours Hamilton City. (click to enlarge).
For Upper Body
For LOWER BODY
Feeling tired of the same workout and not getting the same results as when I first started my routine... It's time to take it up a knotch!
