Sport is at the forefront of most Kiwi’s minds, now more than ever as Kiwi athletes dominate the media.
Unfortunately we can’t all be high-performing athletes, but we can always do our best to keep active and increase our fitness levels. In winter it can be much harder to get motivated – the couch and heater seem far more attractive than the cold outside – but movement is something our bodies were made for and thrive from. We’ve got four tips to get you active indoors or after dark.
1. Pick an indoor sport or class so cold, rainy days don’t lend themselves to your tricky excuses.
2. Use pack mentality – join a group fitness sport or class. You’ll be less likely to fall victim to bowing out if you have other people counting on you. At minimum, have a fitness buddy you have to answer to.
3. Reward yourself for every four weeks of success to keep you inspired and motivated (e.g., massage, facial or new gadget) with a super bonus reward at the three-month mark (e.g., weekend spa, shopping spree...)
4. Allow yourself three no-show days to use every three months. Any unused tickets get redeemed for your choice of a monetary reward to spend as you wish!
