HealthZone L-Lysine Zone™ provides the amino acid L-Lysine, which is useful in helping reduce lipid deposits in the artery walls.
HealthZone L-Lysine has a binding effect to the substance lipoprotein A so can help with the reduction in atherosclerosis. Lipoprotein A binds to the amino acid lysine which is present in the proteins composing artery walls making them weaker. Blood contains high levels of the amino acid lysine and blood lysine will compete with artery wall lysine for the binding of lipoprotein in effect, drawing lipoprotein A away from the artery walls.
Lysine is a circulating inhibitor of lipoprotein A and in the event that blood lysine levels drop as a result of being bound to lipoprotein A, the body will identify the large quantities of lysine stuck in the lipoprotein A and will use those molecules as patches, causing blocked arteries.
