What is a Mānuka Moment?

Mānuka Moments from Comvita is about finding your own mindful moment and building a ritual around it to help form a habit. It may be a moment of embodiment with a mindful cup of tea, an intentional moment of being whole heartedly engaged in the conversation with a child or an animal, or simply allowing yourself to notice a daily delight. When we are looking for the good, and taking that moment to appreciate the small things, we allow our brains to start working in a new way. The more we focus on little positive things, the more they will appear.

Daily Delights are a simple way to include mindfulness in your everyday. The great thing about a daily delight is that they are all around you. The more we look for them the more we will notice them, which results in our brain starting to look for the positives around us on a regular basis.

It is an easy and simple practice to start, and if you miss a day – don’t worry! Simply pick it up the next day. They can be delights in food, in pampering, in exercise or even just in stillness.

Why is mindfulness beneficial?

Having a regular mindfulness practice can contribute to reducing stress and anxiety, assist with cognitive memory, and improve sleep. Being mindful makes it easier to savour the pleasures in life as they occur, helps you become fully engaged in activities, and creates a greater capacity to deal with adverse events. By focusing on the here and now, many people who practice mindfulness find that they are less likely to get caught up in worries about the future or regrets over the past, are less preoccupied with concerns about success and self-esteem, and are better able to form deep connections with others.
